Homeworld Remastered Collection App Reviews

I was quite excited when seeing that I could get back to this great game. Unfortunately, although gameagent says my mac is OK, the game never starts. I have the welcome and launch menue, and then, nothing … Reloaded on another computer (Mac pro first gen), game opens but display completely unstable. Definitely not buy it unless major debug is done.

I dont understand how a game could end up in the apps store and we can’t even launch. Did all they ask in the support section and still. Im running all the latest and im on a fresh install as of few days.

Even with the update, there are still many bugs. For example, you can assign unit into groups. But once you dock them, the group numbers will be gone. Also salvage corvette just won’t salvage at random times, and sometimes can’t retire units you salvaged, Resource Collector won’t use Resource Controller, Resource Collector won’t harvest (you have to manually press ‘H’ every 2 minutes for the next 3 hours), Support Frigate won’t support a group, mismatch between what units you have and Unit summary….. And it has been out for a year now. Edit: After finishing the game, I played for the second time. More bugs appear which wasn’t around the first time. Random units would disappear, either at the start of a mission or mid mission. Disappear in an instant, as in just does not exist anymore. This makes the game almost unplayable because too many units disappear, and too often (every mission starting from mission 3).

Always have! Makes you feel like Ender Wiggins ;-) Please, PLEASE add Multiplayer support soon!

So many years after its initial release this legendary game can hold its own against anything out there now. Great value for money too.

Works flawlessly!! Thanks for bringing Homeworld to the Mac and to the App Store!! I love this series so much!!! I have the original Homeworld series and have had Windows on my mac just for Homeworld - now that can go!! Now I need Cataclysm. Any chance that is coming over too?

I love this classic game! However, the bugs need to be worked out. The classic Homeworld works better than the remastered version. I wish I had searched for "Homeworld Remastered Bug” before purchasing this app.

This game is a great RTS game from the past. Real-Time Strategy is done very nicely in this game, a good balance between research, building, and protecting/fighting. The AI is very nice, and varies its respnse enough to keep the game interesting.

I cut my teeth on strategy games with this work of art. This game was an absolute visual feast for the eyes when it came out in ’99 and the remaster just puts it to the stratosphere in terms of graphical detail. The original game was an absolute treat that no one saw coming. The user interface was revolutionary. The ability to move and attack in all three dimensions was a master stroke. The story however, was what totally drew me in. This is one of those games that will stay with you long after you watch the end credits roll. I kept my box and CD’s as a souvenir, like an old teddy bear you never want to throw out because of all the peace and security it gave you over the years. Get this game and never look back with regret.

Loaded MBP and game won’t launch - don’t purchase this game until it is fixed

I used to play this game years ago on my PC when it first came out and the remaster edition has blown me away so far. The graphic are great and it is so much fun to play but there is one thing that you have to consider when you are playing it. DO NOT USE YOUR TRACKPAD ONLY. To be able to really play this game you must have a mouse with all both left and right click options. There are some things that you just cannot do without the mouse. I love this game so much and I am excited to play it correctly once I get a mouse that I can use. There are no BestBuys in the jungle so I am SOL right now. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a good original RTS with a great story line

Excellent remaster and runs great on my Macbook Pro Mid 2015.

I was having similar launching issues as others. I was able to get the game to work by running the mac Game Center app and logging in. After relaunching the game it works! I just finished playing the tutorials. Everything seems to work and look great even on my late 2011 15" Macbook Pro. I’m excited to get back into this game finally.

"Please launch your Game Center app and log out of your account. Restart your Mac and relaunch the Game Center app to log back into your account. Relaunch HW: RC and the game should load correctly.” Worked after initially starting launcher and none of the games loaded. The fix above solved the issue after contacting Aspyr tech support.

When I saw this, my hand jumped to the purchase button instantly. Without a doubt I consider Homeworld the best game of all time, bar none. Ive been hoping someone would port it to modern machines for ages! I have been playing on a 2 year old Mac Mini, and aside from imperfect video smoothness in cinematics, it seems absolutely fine. No problems like others have reported. The only minor issue I ran into is that the ctrl-number keys used to assign groups are normally assigned to desktop switching on OS X. I disabled them in the system preferences, and the game has since worked flawlessly. If you have never played homeworld, before, just buy it now. This game was lovingly crafted by true artists. Not only does it have an incredible story, excellent graphics, and outstanding sound, but it also has one of the best gameplay interfaces I have ever encounterd in an RTS game. The gameplay is also exceptionally well balanced. The missions are difficult enough to feel challenging, but not impossible. Im disappointed at the statement that its currently single player only, as the multiplayer games were also a blast, but the game is really about the single player mode anyway. Wonderful job guys!

I used to tirelessly play this game on PC 15 years ago until software upgrades finally stopped that from continuing. Now that I am an apple owner it is great to have this game for entertainment again. The graphics and gameplay are easily as good if not better than the original. I own one of the newer 27” iMacs and there is no problem running this app. Great product, beautiful rendering, immersive gameplay…I could not ask for more!

The game center fix is working. I can’t wait to enjoy this game again. Thanks for the quick fix.

I’ve waited a long time for this. I had this on the PC years ago, now I have it on my Mac!!!!! It runs great, both the new and older versions. The only drawback is the music video at the end of the credits is replaced. Bring Back YES! (The Ladder). I hope that they do an update to include this!!!!!! Michael Iverson
